Notorious B.I.G. Lyrics Inspired These Chefs To Create A Six-Course Meal

by 10h ago

Eighteen years ago today, on March 9, 1996, The Notorious B.I.G.’s life was cut short in a fatal shooting in Los Angeles. Since then, March 9 has become both a day of mourning Biggie’s death and celebrating Big Poppa’s life. On Monday, one New York restaurant paid tribute to the MC in a special way.

Chef Chris Jaeckle of Manhattan’s All’onda and Dale Talde of Talde’s teamed up to create a six-course meal made up of food that Biggie referenced in his lyrics, according to The New York Post. The meal was served at All’onda all day and it featured some creative takes on Frank White’s rhymes.

For example, Cracked Pepper Jerk Crab and Lobster Toast was on the menu. Of course, this item was inspired by 1997’s “I Love The Dough” where Big Poppa raps about deciding between cracked crab or lobster. Gotta love that, right? But that wasn’t all.

Butter Poached Escargot was also available. That item reminds us of 1997’s “Hypnotize.” You know the line. “Escargot,” he rhymed on the classic track. “My car go 160 swiftly.”

Sadly, if you missed it, you may never get to enjoy this meal. It was only available Monday.

As with every March 9, it’s been a big day (no pun intended) for Biggie memories. Kendrick Lamar blessed us with bars over Big Poppa’s classics, fans turned Instagram into a B.I.G. exhibit and a pin set was released (also inspired by Biggie’s food references).

Safe to say Big Poppa’s memory lives on and his influence remains strong from music to fashion to food.
