Ever since a 17-year-old Britney Spears burst onto the scene in 1998 with “…Baby One More Time,” she’s owned the throne as the undisputed Princess of Pop (bow down). And almost two decades later, after hordes of wannabe stars have come and gone, she reigns supreme.
But in a new interview with Billboard Magazine, the 33-year-old couldn’t help but gush about a younger pop star who’s caught her eye (and her ears).
While discussing her ongoing “Piece of Me” residency in Las Vegas — where she’s holding court through 2017 — Brit admitted that before showtime, she jams out to Taylor Swift’s album 1989 while getting her hair and makeup done.
“It’s so much fun — ‘Out of the Woods’ is a good one,” Brit gushed, bestowing her blessing upon Tay and basically giving her the go-ahead to continue on with her pop music ventures.
But don’t get too comfortable yet, Taylor, because Britney is far from hanging up her crown. The “Work Bitch” singer also revealed to Billboard that she’s “slowly but surely” recording her ninth studio album — yay!
But with her Vegas show, a lingerie line, her two sons, and blooming relationship with boyfriend Charlie Ebersol, she admits she’s taking her time.
“There’s a lot going on with my kids and schools and adding new sports. I’m going to try to do my best to do an amazing album. But it’s not my full priority right now,” she said.
That’s OK, Brit — we’ll be waiting! In the mean time, we’ll rest easily knowing that we have your approval to rock out to “Out of the Woods.”
