On Friday night (May 22), Jeezy pulled a Beyonce and dropped a surprise mixtape, Gangsta Party. Hosted by DJ Drama, it’s his first project since releasing Seen It All: The Autobiography last year.
#GangstaParty! http://t.co/LVCQtEUkGL pic.twitter.com/M0vTe5dklK
— SnowGo (@YoungJeezy) May 23, 2015
Practically all of Atlanta seems to have rolled through his studio: 2 Chainz, Rich Homie Quan, Kevin Gates, YG, and Shy Glizzy all appear. The tape also features production from a who’s who of modern Atlanta hitmakers, including London On Da Track, Sonny Digital, Zaytoven, and Cardo. Jeezy’s been king of the city for a solid decade at this point, since releasing Thug Motivation 101 back in 2005 (feel old yet?). For his new tape, it makes sense that he’d update his sound with the producers responsible for the biggest hitmakers coming out of the city today.
Speaking of which, the first song on Jeezy’s new tape, “I Might,” features Rich Homie Quan. It’s an impressive moment — the old kingpin and the new guard, united on a beat produced by London On the Track.
“I might just get back on my block s–t, Jimmy Iovine, yeah, we chasin’ billions,” raps Jeezy. “Might just whip two halves, two nines and hit the block, Might just go on tour, n—a, get the guap.”
Jeezy sounds fearsome — despite a decade in the spotlight, he’s still hungry and he still has what it takes to keep with the new generation.

In April, Chance the Rapper announced at a concert that Surf — a collaborative project with Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment — would be out within the week. Almost a month later, we’ve seen no sign of the long-promised album, but he’s finally given us a taste of new music with the short but sweet track “Hiatus.”
more: Chance The Rapper Launches Second Annual Anti-Violence Initiative In Chicago
Chance sounds blissfully at home over the subtly funky instrumental, which opens with a playful scat and features a sample from Australian neo-soul band Hiatus Kaiyote. However, there’s no indication that Donnie Trumpet was involved on the track, suggesting it may not end up on Surf after all.
Chance announced the new song with a simple tweet, writing, “Another broadcast from my home studio.” He followed up with another tweet that read “Hiatus broadcast,” before sharing a poetic verse from the lyrics: “I’m just a soul that borrowed the bod, I have no quarrel with God. Keep my eye on the sparrow until I’m sparring with Rod.”
I'm just a soul that borrowed the bod, I have no quarrel with God. Keep my eye on the sparrow until I'm sparring with Rod.

Keep your eyes peeled for Surf, presumably dropping any day now, and tide yourself over with “Hiatus” in the meantime.
Stop what you’re doing, because Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” video is here, and it’s even more epic than we could have imagined.
The Kendrick Lamar-remixed version of the song opened up the 2015 Billboard Music Awards Sunday (May 17), and it set the bar very high for the rest of the evening.
Even though T. Swift (aka Catastrophe) has been releasing posters for each of the badass women in the vid — ranging from leading lady Selena Gomez as Arsyn to her catspirations Ellen Pompeo and Mariska Hargitay as Luna and Justice — we went in questioning the actual premise.
Was it a bunch of ladies fighting each other, vigilantes cleaning up the city, or femme fatales in a riff on “Sin City”?
Frankly, it was all of the above and more, with glimpses at each starlet stealing the spotlight throughout the insane video.
The video kicked off with Taylor (Catastrophe) and Selena (Arsyn) fighting off some men in suits before Catastrophe gets stabbed in the back and kicked through a window to her death. Ouch.
But don’t worry — she was reborn and trained for a second battle by facing off against Lily Aldridge (Frostbyte), Karlie Kloss (Knockout) and other celeb pals. She raced motorcycles with Jessica Alba (Domino), had a salute with Mariska (Justice) and Ellen Pompeo (Luna), and inevitably walked out of an explosion to fight Arsyn and her crew again.

Everything was insane, from Taylor’s dozens of costume and hair color changes — she was a redhead! — to all of these ladies wielding huge machine guns and dynamite.
Was fighting “the man” and then a dark-haired gal a subtle dig at Katy Perry, who the song is rumored to be about? Maybe, maybe not, but let’s put any gossip aside and just focus on how awesome the video is.
more: The 16 Most Badass Moments From Taylor Swift’s EPIC ‘Bad Blood’ — In GIFs
Check it out above, and be prepared to watch it on repeat for the rest of the week (or maybe the rest of your life). Just when we thought there was no way Tay could top “Blank Space,” she went and gave us this masterpiece.
Sam Smith often leaves us speechless with his incredible music, but at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards Sunday (May 17), he was the one not saying a word.
When the singer accepted his award for Top Male Artist, he did it entirely with cue cards in a video message from NYC, where he’s currently on rest after undergoing vocal chord surgery and canceling his Australian tour.
This is ONLY One Reason why we Love ♥️Sam Smith. Sam gives ENTIRE speech with cue cards http://t.co/aYtKCsej7Y ♠️ pic.twitter.com/WXH5VgQyFh
— Tamara Kennedy (@tamara710) May 18, 2015
The cue card idea alone would have been adorable, but what he said on them was even sweeter. After thanking Billboard and his fans, he shouted out three of his singer friends in the audience — Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and Ed Sheeran — with very specific messages.
more: Who’s Cleaning Up At The 2015 Billboard Music Awards? We’ve Got The Full Winners’ List
Read his whole speech below. Get well soon, Sam!
“First, thank you Billboard for this incredible honor. Secondly, thank you to my amazing fans. It’s times like this that I realize how lucky I am to have you in my life. Can’t wait to get this surgery out of the way so I can sing my ass off for you again. And lastly, seeing as you guys are in Vegas. Taylor… put a 100 on black for me. Nicki… Oh… My… God. Look at her bum! And Ed… I’ve organized a special dance for you at Chippendales. Good night and turn up! BLBL x.”

Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes, aka Carly Rae Jepsen’s latest collaborator, shared 46 minutes of new music on Twitter today (May 11). Per Hynes’ instructions, the mix is music for us to “zone out to.”
Pretty chill.
Hynes also shared that the music was for a film project he’d been working on, but was recently fired from. “No hard feelings,” he wrote in the YouTube description.
Music from the film score i was let go from a couple weeks ago. Figured i'd put it out. Now back to work on Blood Orange LP3. Peace. <3
— Devonté Hynes (@devhynes) May 11, 2015
And hey, if that means new Blood Orange tracks can arrive sooner rather than later, we’re okay with that.

While we anxiously await for the arrival of Years & Years’ debut album, Communion, later this summer, the synth poppers have gifted us with a brand new cut from the record, “Shine.”

The fittingly polished track is bright as its name suggests, with shimmering synth grooves and a buzzy beat: the perfect foundation for some light, breezy crooning, courtesy of frontman Olly Alexander. It’s just the sort of summery, anthemic electro-pop we can really get behind.

The British trio have been teasing us with the prospect of their debut album for quite some time now. Communion can finally be ours on June 22– let the countdown begin.
T.I. and Chris Brown know how to make a hot music video.
Tip and Breezy got some lovely ladies in lingerie and lived out a “Private Show” fantasy in their latest clip which premiered Monday (May 11) on MTV Jams.
As you can see, it gets pretty hot.
It even features a spinning platform with more gorgeous girls.
And special effects (as if they were needed).
Just watch the entire thing below.
The song is the latest single off Tip’s 2014 album Paperwork, which Pharrell executive produced.
“Pharrell is a force of nature,” T.I. told MTV News before the project dropped. “His artistry, his contribution to music, is of the highest standard and of the highest quality. I just want to match his efforts.”

The album went through a bit of controversy after it was released. In January, people thought Pharrell told GQ he “wasn’t happy” with the LP. That same month, P clarified his stance on Twitter. “I love T.I.’s album,” he said. “He is a genius.”
Paperwork is the ninth album in Tip’s celebrated discography. Now, we can’t wait for the tenth.

Unfortunately, devastating Twitter feuds have gotten a lot of attention recently (R.I.P. Zouis). But we’re happy to report that it’s not all beef in the celeb social media world, thanks to a couple of our fave singers and their adorably supportive exchanges.
Case in point: Ed Sheeran and Tove Lo, who recently bonded over their mutual love for Tove’s latest single, “Talking Body.” First, let’s rewind to last month, when the Swedish singer tweeted how excited she was about the song’s chart success. Ed replied to the tweet, saying, “that’s coz its f—kin awesome,” which understandably made Tove’s inner fangirl freak out.
@iamtovelo that's coz its fuckin awesome
— Ed Sheeran (@edsheeran) April 17, 2015
@edsheeran YOU are awesome #fangirlingout
— Tove Lo (@ToveLo) April 17, 2015
Three whole weeks later, it appears Ed’s continued jamming out to the banger nonstop. On Wednesday (May 6), he again sung Tove’s praises, admitting he had the track on repeat “all day urrday.”
@ToveLo I still have talking body on repeat all day urrday
— Ed Sheeran (@edsheeran) May 6, 2015
That’s when Tove responded by challenging Ed to sing it himself, which he hesitantly agreed to.
@ToveLo I promise it wouldn't be as good but okay
— Ed Sheeran (@edsheeran) May 6, 2015
We’re really, really hoping Ed’s serious about tackling this song sometime… can you imagine how amazingly he’d rework it with his signature looping?! The British crooner just kicked off the stateside leg of his Multiply World Tour, and we think an acoustic-driven rendition of “Talking Body” would be the PERFECT addition to his setlist. Just throwing that out there, Ed.
more: 14 Things You Need To Know Before You See Ed Sheeran On Tour
Then again, both he and Tove are scheduled to perform at the Rock in Rio USA festival in Las Vegas next weekend, so maybe they’ll team up for a duet of the song — keeping our fingers crossed!
It took four months, but Eddie Murphy finally blessed fans with a music video for his reggae song, “Oh Jah Jah,” on Wednesday (May 6).
In the Richard Gumbs III-directed clip, which employs hazy graphic effects, the comedian is seen performing the song in the studio flanked by his band.
Dressed in a Rastafarian star-emblazoned long-sleeve t-shirt while playing guitar, the “Red Light” singer does his best to channel his inner Bob Marley.
While the visuals never take Murphy to Babylon or Zion, it’s still an enjoyable romp through his popular reggae tune.
more: Eddie Murphy Might Go On Tour, And This New Reggae Song Might Be The First Step
Question is, does this mean he’s going to release a full album?
“If people respond to ’Oh Jah Jah’ then I might,” Murphy told Rolling Stone back in January. “If people don’t, that s–t will just stay on the shelf where it’s at. And I’m cool with that. I’m cool with all my s–t being on the shelf until 100 years from now. Everything comes out 100 years from now,” Murphy said. “Any artist that did anything, once you’re gone, they go looking through all your s–t. Like this scrap of paper that you drew on. If I’m doing a movie or if I’m going onstage, that’s me being funny. But music, I do that all the time, for free.”
Let’s also never forget Murphy’s 1985 video for “Party All The Time.” Relive the vintage magic below. Vaguely reminiscent, no?
Swifties, when you offer up your daily #blessings for the miracle that is Taylor Swift, there are a lot of people who you probably thank. There’s Mama Swift, whoM Tay says has been a constant source of inspiration for her (and also birthed her unto the world). Then there’s Scott Borchetta of Big Machine Records, who gave Taylor her first big break. But there’s one person who you’ve probably (but wrongfully!) kept off your list: “Seinfeld’s” Jason Alexander.
Following a karaoke charity event in Los Angeles this week — where he apparently serenaded the crowd with a Taylor song — Alexander caught up with TMZ and reminisced about a music video he starred in and directed in 2007. The video was for Brad Paisley’s “Online,” and it featured a then-17-year-old Taylor as a backup dancer.
“Not only am I a Swift fan, I put her in her first video,” Alexander told TMZ, mentioning the vintage clip. “There are two young ladies on stage with [Paisley]. One of them is Kellie Pickler. The other one, an underage Taylor Swift.”
Asked if he, then, is to thank for Tay’s subsequent worldwide fame, Alexander joked, “Yeah, it’s all me. I don’t have to take credit. I have the credit!”
How very George Costanza of him.
Alexander is joking, of course — after all, Taylor already had a debut album under her belt in 2007. But it’s still fun to revisit the vintage video because this clip’s got it all: an aqua-colored iBook, Myspace, and William Shatner. And, of course, Taylor in all her curly-haired glory, busting out some predictably sassy moves.
Check out the full video below, as well as another live performance of the song where Taylor and Pickler reprise their backup dancing roles.
You probably already knew that Cher inspired Kim Kardashian, but did you know she heavily influenced Kanye West, too?
Apparently, Yeezy thanked Cher for a super-influential move when he and Kim spoke with the legendary singer at the Met Gala.
more: See The Original Inspiration For Kim Kardashian’s Sheer Met Gala Dress
Cher opened up about what she and KimYe discussed on Twitter when a fan asked what it was like to meet Kim. The iconic singer used that opportunity to dish about her convo with Ye, too.
“She was very gracious,” Cher said Monday (May 4). “We talked about our trips to Armenia. Kanye thanked me for Auto-Tune. They were sweet and seemed to be having fun.”
Kanye thanking Cher for Auto-Tune makes sense. Her epic 1998 “Believe” single was the first hit to use Auto-Tune, according to The New York Times.
Listen to “Believe” below.
After “Believe,” Cher used Auto-Tune on several cuts, including “The Music’s No Good Without You.”
And “Real Love”
And “Different Kind Of Love Song.”
Kanye eventually used it on several tracks, including “Heartless”
And “Amazing”
And, actually, the whole 808s & Heartbreak LP.
We have to wonder if the unlikely duo also discussed a potential collaboration for Yeezy’s upcoming SWISH album. How epic would that be?

Imagine a song that could unite Swifties, G-Unit soldiers and the entire music world. That’s what Young Buck sees when he visualizes a collaboration with Taylor Swift, who recently showed love for his 2004 hit “Shorty Wanna Ride” by singing its hook while accepting a Shorty Award last month.
more: Taylor Swift is Rapping Again And You Won’t Guess Which Song
“I would want to do a record with Taylor that would be basically a party record,” Buck told Complex May 6. “I would want to have fun with Taylor. Wild out…It would just be a record where it would come on and the whole world would just party one time. Soon as you hear it, you just drop everything and you just start partying right then and there.”
Buck went on to say that their collaboration would be huge for Nashville, where he’s from and where Taylor moved as a teen.
“It would be gigantic for the city. It would probably be one of the biggest things that ever happened,” Buck said. “You would have two different artists in two different genres of music that has this multi-platinum, big hit all over the world that nobody expected. That comes from right here, Music City, USA. And it would just show the world, this is where real music is. This is where it is birthed at. This is where it’s at right now!”
This might not be too far-fetched. Taylor’s such a big fan of Buck, in fact, that she used to drive by his home in Nashville back in the day.
“When I was in high school, my boyfriend and I would drive around and he’d always point to this neighborhood where Young Buck lived,” she told Vibe last year. “We would drive by and look at his cars and be like ’Oh my gawwwwwd! Those cars are so coooool! I wonder if he’s in there!’”
Plus, she’s a huge fan of rap in general. She can rhyme Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle” by heart, has worked with T-Pain, B.o.B. and even covered Eminem.
Looks like we’re that much closer to a Buck/Swift collab. What do you think their hit would sound like? Let us know in the comments.
